Leave the “Place of Silence” heading west. You suddenly find yourself right in the hustle and bustle of the city center between Burger King and ice cream stand. First turn right here, then immediately left again and right again... and follow the stone path straight ahead at St. Catherine's Church. It takes you directly to the restored monument of Frankfurt's most famous son.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, born in Frankfurt in 1749, is considered the city's most important son. Severely damaged in the air raids on Frankfurt, the monument was temporarily repaired in 1952 and moved to the Gallusanlage. It was not until 2007 that the restored monument was returned to Goetheplatz.
