Let's go – go to the first station. This is located slightly north, but not far from the Goethe Tower, hidden on the side of the road. Behind green thickets, a small stone staircase leads you to an inconspicuous viewing point.
A lookout tower was built early on in Goethe's honor. As a quiet counterpart to the Goethe Tower, which is still much visited and rather “loud” today, a small, tranquil place was reactivated in 1999, the Goetheruh – a small, hidden viewing hill in the middle of the forest, just to the left on the side of the path in the immediate vicinity of the Goethe Tower.
It is said that Goethe enjoyed staying here during his lifetime and perhaps wrote one or two works. We like to imagine that he also ate his alleged favorite dish, green sauce – cooked by his dear mother. However, it is not proven whether Goethe actually rested and ate here.
